Review on ๐Ÿ“€ Pawtec Gray Edition - Slim Aluminum USB 3.0 External Enclosure for Optical SATA Drive Blu-Ray DVD - MAC/PC Compatible by Bryan Moon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Robust, tool-less assembly, driver-less, quiet, fast

I completely redact all my previous statements. The thing is absolute garbage. It's nice when it works but now with 3 of these I will never buy again. The internal SATA connector is incredibly prone to flexing when you plug in a drive, so you're likely to damage it the first time you plug in a drive and every time thereafter. The USB3 port becomes weak after a few uses and loses connectivity. Now that I have that $90 in the trash, I'll find something reliable. The case itself is good, but everything else is not properly constructed. Robust, built without tools, without drivers, quiet, fast are many golden factors when expanding your arsenal of technical devices. I had 4 or 5 cheap fakes made in Taiwan and this one killed them, no doubt about that. The bare drive plugs right in, and there's an eject button on the bottom for quick and easy swapping. Supplied complete with new matching drive. I would like to note that the front panel lists all the popular front-printed media types (CD-DVD-Lightscribe-BluRay) so this can be a bit misleading if put on the wrong drive. Don't worry, the seal isn't glued to the door, so you can rub off the unnecessary text with a piece of sugar and remove it without scratching the door.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
