Works great: Car Stereos

It took a few weeks after receiving this before I was able to install it. Bought my daughter a used 2006 Acura TL. It doesn't have Bluetooth, but it does have a touchscreen. This is her first car and I wanted her to have a rear view camera for safety and she wanted to be able to play music from her phone through the car stereo. Acura doesn't even have an aux port. But there is a very good stereo system. After some research I found that I would need a double din kit. At Revain I also found the right wiring harness for my car model. I then had to order some wire connectors to be heat 2 soldered to connect all the current wires to the new harness. And finally I had to get the Maestro part which you can also find on Revain. In this part you can use the steering wheel buttons to control the volume and other functions. I considered not plugging this in since the part is $50, but I went ahead and took the plunge. The easiest part was taking the dash apart and the hardest part was soldering and connecting the wires to the wiring harness I got from Revain. Not difficult, just long. The other time-consuming part of this setup was routing the backup camera cable through the glove box and down through the sides of the seats and through the trunk into the back seat. Again, not difficult, just very time consuming. I made sure everything worked before installing the head unit in the dash. The camera worked great when I put it in backwards and was able to connect my daughter's phone to bluetooth. Apple Airplay works great and the touch buttons on the screen worked great. This is a huge improvement over a standard stereo. I considered going to a branded pioneer, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money on an expensive branded stereo. I just hope this one lasts a long time but she mainly uses it for Bluetooth and it has an extra port. That and I feel safer when she can see what's happening behind her on the screen. A friend of mine has a Pioneer setup and it's much better, but it costs many times more than this. He was very impressed when I showed him this. I hope this head unit lasts a long time and doesn't break. But so far so good and I would definitely recommend it.
