Extremely light and cheaply made

The first thing that struck me was that it felt like nothing in my hand. There seems to be nothing in the charger. Is the actual charging port too long for the 3DS itself? It's weird that I have a 3DSXL and a new 3DS. It fits, but unlike my old 3DS charger that came with the devices, it never connects. He just sits there. He never has a strong connection. On the day of arrival I plugged it in and it charged both devices. Well, after that he never changed them again. So I'm back where I was.
