Revainrating 5 out of 5

Reliable and practical

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the QC35 was still not just a thing, I could easily find accessories for it. This is Bose's testimony that the QC35 is so reliable that once the pads started to fall apart I expected them to be a thing of the past. But not this case. Not only are they still super relevant, there's a thriving third-party aftermarket! They are a little "louder" than I expected. Not in tone, but in color. They really stand out! The coloring is very light and the pattern is well defined. Adjust: I didn't need any tools to take out the old ones or put in the new ones. I REALLY stopped, laid everything out and positioned each gasket next to the existing OEMs. before I started taking them apart. Once I was sure the size, shape, and orientation looked right, I very carefully pulled out the old ones with my thumbnail and inserted the new ones in reverse order. Aside from seeming a little more durable than the OEM ones, the fit on my head is almost identical. This may be due to the fact that the OEM devices were five years old and were in daily use. Sound: Hardly distinguishable from OEM. Again, this could be because the OEM pads were 5 years old. They seem to isolate outside noise a little better, but that could be a placebo. I definitely don't get A LOT of sound leakage from them. Conclusion: It took me a while to overcome my shyness when coloring. I was expecting it to be more subdued than it actually is and based on the OEM black they are very colorful. I originally bought my QC35s because I spent 3/4 of my day on conference calls and Zoom/Teams meetings and my ears got wet from using the headphones or headset that came with my phone. Another quarter of my day was devoted to music or audio books. My usage behavior hasn't changed at all. I've been using these pads just like the originals since I bought them. They're just as comfortable and efficient, and I enjoy very similar sound quality. The sound quality could be better, but I don't want to compare worn out stock pads to brand new ones.
