I would not recommend this item for tight tires. I bought this product based on the reviews and because I didn't want to bend my alloy wheels. The problem is that the thickness of the plastic needs to be strong enough to keep the tire from slipping into the rim. Even with this thickness I managed to break 3 levers out of 4 and the tire never touched the rim. Then I bought thinner metal tires and the tire mounted fairly easily and didn't damage the rims. I can't get the tire off either. I gave it an extra star for securing the spokes as it would have made removing a less stubborn tire much easier.
