Ideal for replacing drawstrings in pants

I love wearing jogging pants in fall, winter and spring. Of course, the new sweatpants come with a drawstring around the waist. I hate that. I'm 5'10" and 175 pounds so I'm "slim". The drawstring isn't enough to hold up the pants. And I'm too lazy to tie the top/ This is why I use this gum instead of string. You need to make a small cut at the back of the cord channel to release the tip. After that, just tie a rubber band around one end of the cord and pull through. I then do about a week loosely knot the elastic until I find the right tension. and twist the rubber band an inch or two through the channel to move that little knot away from the navel. I tried 3/4" elastic first. Works well. I also tried 3/8" a while ago and it seems to have lost its "stretch" too quickly (after a few months). So, I think that 1/2 inch size is almost right. It will last the life of these pants (2 years).

Pros
  • Elastic drawstrings
Cons
  • Not as bulky as other options
