Review on ☕ Bodum Java French Press Coffee Maker - 34oz, 1L, Black, 8-Cup Capacity by Kara Smith

Poor quality, especially for Bodum. Came back and can't recommend

I bought a Bodum French Press at a flea market a few years ago and it has worked great. It was a standard rubber/plastic French press + glass tumbler, nothing special. The filter worked well, never clogged and was easy to clean and use. Unfortunately I threw it off the shelf and it broke. No wonder and it was my fault. I ordered this machine but the difference in quality between this and my previous French Press was day and night. First, the glass doesn't sit tight in the mount. When trying to pour coffee, the glass slips out. When you press the filter, the coffee has a habit of sloshing out of the glass. If you're not careful, there will be a mess. Stand, lid and beaker themselves look cheap. I returned my device, maybe they are more durable than I think, but they didn't inspire confidence. The metal filter and stem seemed to be well constructed and did a good job of keeping the grind out of the coffee. I bought a stainless steel miller which I highly recommend. The stainless steel is more durable, my machine is vacuum insulated so the coffee stays hot, and the filter works just as well, maybe a little better than the Bodum machine. I doubt I will ever buy a glass french press again. I could try Bodum again but I wouldn't buy their budget device and I would do some thorough research first.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
