I have 3b/3b natural hair so to be honest I didn't have high hopes for this product. The first thing you'll notice is that this thing is huge. Aside from the brush being wide (which is actually a good thing), the handle looks massive and chunky. Although I'm not sure if the handle would be small, it would be good for storing water. The bristles are strong and did a good job on my thick hair. On the back of the brush is a steam on/off switch and a slide switch with high, low and cool temperature options. I tried it on dry hair and spritzed water and heat protectant over it. The instructions clearly state that thicker and coarser hair combs slower, which is what I did. Like I said, I didn't have high expectations for this item, although I actually got a pretty decent look. For the girls with thicker, coarser hair, you won't get straight, silky hair. You will get results similar to regular blow drying. Although I was able to achieve this look in just one pass. I didn't have to heat my hair as much after going through it a few times. In addition, the height of the brush did not get too hot. It was tolerable enough as I could put my hand on the other end (to prevent my hair from touching the brush) and didn't feel like I was burning my hand which is reassuring because as I'm natural, I'm careful about how much heat I put on my hair. I was going to give this item four stars but couldn't because it didn't quite live up to what it said it would. It's not shiny, at least on my hair. I couldn't use this brush to style my hair. The brush is too wide to create bumps or waves. Best of all, it works directly on the hair shaft. Another disadvantage is that there is only high and low. Normally hair dryers have a medium heat setting, but this item does not.
