Review on SMALLRIG Ballhead Multi Function Adapter Ronin M by Heather Seay

This little clamp mount is very versatile, very handy and generally very well constructed. Being mostly metal, it's surprisingly heavy (and durable) and looks very secure. The main disadvantage is the threaded ball attached to the main clamp - it does not remain on the thread. It looks like the manufacturer used some kind of thread lock to secure it (see photo), but that didn't work for me. I've tried several ways to tighten the ball retainer in the clamp assembly (carefully without damaging the surface of the ball) but over time it just doesn't hold up. I hit a bump while skiing or cycling and my camera falls over because the threaded bolt comes loose. In my last attempt to fix the situation, I bought some of my own threadlock and applied it to the bracket. . Let's see if that improves the situation. I really like this mount - it has a lot of nice features, strength and versatility. However, because the main mounting post doesn't want to stay taut and attached, it really reduces the overall value of this mount.
