It's loud, it's pretty cheap and the packaging it comes in isn't great so it looks pretty worn. In fact I thought it was used and returned due to a defect when it arrived but the company was great at getting me a new one on time and when it arrived it looked just as shabby and used so that was my opinion after only the lack of protection in the package. For the price it works so well and really really fast. It takes some adjustment and training, but if you take the time to bend your arms and figure out how to rotate them, so you can move really fast, without tearing off the spool-like part you're done and the only thing that will slow you down is the strand itself when it tends to get tangled. I used a tin can to put it between it and the chair I was spinning it on and it protects both the wood and the winder from swaying and loosening. Any rubbery material will work, such as Like the non-slip materials you use to line your shelves and buy at the Dollar Store. If you can afford to spend twice as much or more, I'd skip it and go with the more expensive one. like stanwood,
