Review on πŸ”Œ BTU Retractable Pop Up Power Strip with Surge Protector, 4 AC Plugs, Type-A/Type-C USB Ports, Wireless Charger - Ideal for Kitchen Counters - White by Alan Estell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Pop up with 4 AC power ports plus 2pcs USB A & C plugs, Qi charger desk/desk mount

have built in surge protection. The 4 AC plugs are spaced far enough apart for me to plug in a bulky wall wart. It's larger than I first thought (pics 1,2,3) and requires a large 4.7" diameter round hole cut from the countertop. Hole saws of this size do not exist, so a jigsaw is required for cutting. It also requires at least 7.2 inches of depth under the counter so that when it's flush with your desktop, there's room in the lowered portion of the unit. The heavy 110V AC cord, almost 6 feet long, also needs space underneath, maybe an extra inch. It needs a power plug, of course it can complicate things even more if it's under the counter. It is extremely inconvenient to mount this device on a stone or glass surface. Once the hole is made the device is dropped from above and a simple plastic ring (not too strong) is screwed on to hold it in place. It can still twist/rotate quite a bit as the plastic ring is finger tight and can break if over tightened. This comes with no leaflet or hole template. Removing the compression ring and using it as a hole template is an easy fix to this problem. Strong pressure activates the pop-up function and the device body slowly rises. That is a good thing. The top flat surface has a built-in Qi wireless charging pad (5W), which I couldn't test without owning a Qi device. When I tested them with my USB 2A load tester, the USB A ports (2) both gave 5.19V (Figure 4) and delivered up to 2.4A at 5V, which is within specs. USB-C connectors (2) do not have a power distribution or power output rating. It needs some work, especially for what it's worth. I decided not to go ahead and mount it. I am not convinced of their usefulness to me and prefer to keep my installation and equipment powered on and connected to the UPS. I see where this may be useful for some people. I can honestly give this BTU Store auto pop up outlet a qualified 4 star recommendation. There are specific requirements for installation - it requires a large hole and space underneath, and I'm not sure if this is a mandatory item. That's not a good price either. I hope you found the information and my review helpful.
