Much better than a cheap USB switch

Don't even waste your money on $10 USB switches. I threw mine away after months of frustration. On the contrary, this TESmart KVM was very reliable and extremely user-friendly. Some of the features didn't look convincing on paper but were surprisingly enjoyable in real life. Pros: * One switch controls USB and video! * The "Online" indicator shows me when my work laptop does not have the USB port enabled. * Keyboard shortcuts to switch computers smartly and quickly. Just double-tap Scroll Lock and then Page Up or Page Down. Cons: * Requires its own AC power supply that is not powered by any of the USB ports. * Has a power switch. Maybe someone asked about it? I don't think I'll ever use it.* Note that it has dedicated USB ports for keyboard and mouse and only one universal USB port. If you have more USB peripherals, you'll need to connect a hub to a multipurpose port.* I haven't been able to find any solid information on what the keyboard/mouse emulation mode is for. My mouse doesn't work at all in emulation mode, so I always use passthrough mode. Unknowns: * I don't have a 4K monitor, so I can't comment on how well it handles 4K. to switch computers, but I haven't used it.* It has a 1/8" audio output, which I haven't used either.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Only available in white
