This is our second round of auto-lock security gates. We bought three of these to replace some worn out Safety 1st auto-closing gates and based on the good reviews on this gate we decided to use these rather than buy the others. What mistake. I have no idea why this gate has higher ratings than the first security gate, but this gate is nowhere near as good. Pros: Think it looks good for a security gate? Cons: Auto close doesn't work properly. If you loosen the clamps to leave enough room for the gate to close, the entire structure will feel flimsy and most toddlers will break it. If you make it tight/durable the gate won't have enough pressure to actually close. Although I unboxed and installed the three I bought thinking I didn't want to deal with returns, I still send them back. They are too expensive not to work perfectly. If the auto-close function doesn't work most of the time, I can also use a cheaper model that I have to close myself. Save yourself the hassle and get an auto-closing security gate from Safety 1st instead.
