The use of an additional desktop monitor is no longer uncommon. I myself use two monitors for work. However, none of the add-on monitors I've seen are particularly portable, although many claim they are. But CUUIIC's 15.6-inch travel monitor is a good place to start. The monitor is slim to fit in any briefcase or bag without taking up space for laptops, tablets/phones and even comes with a handy carry case. But what I like most about this monitor is that I only need one cable to power it. There is a USB-C/Thunderbolt cable that connects to your laptop and this is the only cable needed to connect the secondary display. It depends if your system is equipped with a Thunderbolt port and you don't use an additional power cable for the computer, the additional monitor or both, then the picture is too dark and the battery in the laptop drains quickly. In a pinch, this setup is great, but if you're going to be using the extended screen setup for more than an hour, you might want to enable it. Even when the monitor and computer are connected, the second screen is not as bright as the display. on my Dell Inspiron and the color looks a bit washed out but if you can ignore those imperfections the new screen is amazing. On the back is a small plastic stand that pops out at a 75-degree angle, allowing you to mount an additional monitor next to you on any surface. There are also enough additional USB ports on the right side so you can connect other displays or powered speakers to the network. The screen is housed in an aluminum body, so the whole setup feels more solid than others I've tried. The only downside I see with this device is the speed at which it drains my laptop's battery, but if you have a plug nearby you're fine. At $129 at Revain, this monitor is hard to beat.
