Desk and trash drawer (or where you keep tape measures, batteries, etc.). They last forever. I still use the one my son bought me in 1983; still perfectly sharp even after two draws + everyday use. I bought a few more (of these) in case I was stupid enough to lose the one I have. (The new ones are just as good!). Important: The round ones do NOT have a small protrusion that keeps the blade extended. Do not buy this shape even though it is the same manufacturer. You must hold the blade with your hand while cutting. THIS VERSION IS NOT. There is a small protrusion that grips the blade and keeps it pulled out. You will not regret it. Order 2 pieces; You'll love it when you realize someone in your family has picked up yours (a common problem with college kids because they already know they're good but don't have access to yours!). Warning: Magnetized to stick to fridge, filing cabinet, etc. This is a quality that is not important to me. I always store sharps carefully and not where a small, small person can access them. These are spicy! Highly recommended. You won't regret ordering them. mb
