It's the small details of construction on this heat shield that I love so much. There aren't many generic heat shields on the Revain. I tried the Specter heat shield for my reception and was disappointed - that's another story. When I opened this carefully packaged product, it was disassembled" - which is good for me. You need to create a rubber border that reflects the screen quite a bit. The shield itself was still wrapped in peelable foil. I'm sure this should prevent scratches on the surface. When everything was assembled, the rubber edges prevented other engine components from being scratched or bumped during installation. The clip and 3" K&N cone filter that I bought separately work well together. What I particularly liked about this shield was that the "hooks" allowed the filter to breathe - the other shields blocked everything on the neck, which I initially thought was good for preventing heat absorption, but soon found that it didn't allow the filter to breathe and actually trap heat in the screen. In terms of heat blocking, it did a great job of blocking heat from my exhaust/turbo manifold. out the filter, and the screen reflecting heat under the screen helped keep the heat from being trapped. All those little things that the designers/manufacturers put into this product were there for me and I'm happy with that.
