
so I'm looking into some IT/Network right now and according to the tutorials I have this cable is Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Category 6 cable I even cut one of the extra cables I had left over. In the photos you can see 4 twisted pairs separated by a PLASTIC CORE to reduce crosstalk. CAT-5 and CAT-5e cables have 4 twisted pairs but no plastic core separating the twisted pairs. The cable may have a metal shield (STP = Shielded Twisted Pair) to avoid interference, making it more expensive, but this cable is not shielded. Anyway, I don't have gigabit ethernet so I'm not sure how well that actually works. My Ethernet connection can handle over 200 Mbps.
