This is a good media mix for large filters. Most ceramic rings are very, very porous and offer a lot of space for bacteria to colonize. They are also equipped with bio-beads, which also have a large surface area for bacteria to colonize. Most of the particles in the mixture are very large. So if you have a small or medium filter, this is probably not the best media to buy as not much of the media mix fits into the smaller filters. This isn't exactly value for money as you can get better mixes at Revain for the same or less price.
