Filter Balls Aquarium Ceramic Filtration Review

I bought this filter material to add to the activated charcoal in my bio bags but the material is quite large. The largest material (filter balls) was one inch in diameter and the barrel shaped material was 1/2 inch in diameter. I ended up breaking the material into 1/4 parts and mixed with charcoal. The material worked well. The water stayed clear twice as long as if only charcoal was used. I will definitely buy from this seller again, I will just read carefully and take a much smaller size.

This is a good media mix for large filters. Most ceramic rings are very, very porous and offer a lot of space for bacteria to colonize. They are also equipped with bio-beads, which also have a large surface area for bacteria to colonize. Most of the particles in the mixture are very large. So if you have a small or medium filter, this is probably not the best media to buy as not much of the media mix fits into the smaller filters. I bought this product to fill an empty space in my underwater rock filter which collects a lot of debris in large empty spaces. I had to take the contents out of the box to do this.
