Great product for diagnostic, immobilizer and security work whether on the desk with the included power adapter or in the vehicle with the OBD II port for powering. These days I always use those expensive scan tools to make sure the networks are communicating properly and the box assembly is properly powered and grounded. You don't want to plug in your very expensive scan tool and it gets fried because you didn't have the right credentials and reasons due to someone's previous poor vehicle work. I have several brands of breakout boxes and this is the easiest to use with added functionality for ECM and ECU repairs on vehicles.
