I recently moved into a new house and have inherited appliances from the 70's. After installing these smoke/CO2 detectors (which was easy) I didn't think much about them other than liking the look and the LED display. It wasn't until I used my gas oven to cook dinner and looked up to see the detectors light up and display some numbers that I really appreciated this purchase. Remembering my friend had told me that devices of this age tend to emit a lot of CO2, I immediately turned on the fan and a minute later the display went blank and returned to normal. This has happened to me twice now (and I started turning on the fan when I use my stove) and I'm pretty sure I would have succumbed to the toxins had I not noticed the early detection of CO2.
