It's definitely not silence or even 'leaves rustling' as is typically seen in the included OEM clipart. It moves some air, but not much. I have an absurd cooling system with a huge heatsink taped to the underside of a Macbook Pro that sits on top of this thing and it barely moves enough air to dissipate the heat coming from it. Because it moves some air, not quite, it's efficient enough that I wouldn't buy anything better, but it's about as loud as MacBook fans running at 3500-4000 RPM and it's an audible background noise for an external microphone and too much noise for the internal microphone in the laptop. Because of these practically unusable results, my rating is 3 stars. Definitely don't buy this if you have a serious heat or noise issue you want to solve.
