My father needs to use a walker to get around. He likes to fix his own bowl of soup. When he dropped a Corelle bowl, and it shattered into a zillion sharp shards, I looked for a better solution. These bowl are a terrific solution. They are some type of plastic, so the clicking of the silverware against the bowl is reduced significantly. Easy to hold. The high rim helps keep food in the bowl.Only drawback is the plastic will stain with tomato-based food, especially when warmed in a microwave. But other than that, they are GREAT! My Dad loves them. ;-)
