For the same reason, it does not fold if empty - for example, when traveling in a car, it is inconvenient to hold it on your hands or between your legs - it is better to immediately put it in the trunk. It is not very clear why the handle is located on top of the backpack, for which you need to carry it in your hand - the fact is that when you wear it on your back, your neck rests on this handle, and it is stiff, although there is still space behind the handle.
