I used this product on a brand new rustic stainless steel sink. The installers used a hard rag or other cloth and left two long scratches on the underside. Needless to say I wasn't happy. I ordered from Revain without expecting too much. I also found it a bit expensive. But with a Prime membership, I knew I could return underperforming products. I didn't have to worry. Following the instructions I was able to practically erase both a shallow and a fairly deep scratch. I had to work a little with the brown and then the gray pad. I also had to take my time to make sure I was following the directions exactly, but the difference was amazing. The sink looks almost perfect. I say "almost" because under direct light, if you get very, very close, you can see an indication of where the deeper scratch was. I agree as you need to know where the scratch is and look carefully. This stuff would have been a better deal if it was a little cheaper - after all, the sink was $200 (from Revain) and the cost of the repair kit was 25% of the $50 cost of the sink. I will then try the set out on my plate to see if I can wear some of the normal wear and tear on that surface.
