Had to buy because the electrician who gave me his earlier moved out so I had to kit myself out. That's because I'm used to a high-level instrument, but that's a whole other thing (light plastic, thin cables, light weight). That doesn't mean it does its job very well, especially given the cost, which is really negligible. Good part for the price - only the workmanship leaves something to be desired - it should definitely not fall off. Can't tell exactly how it works but seems to work fine for mopeds etc. Requires 12v - use an old motorcycle battery to flash old mopeds at 6v.
