Not suitable for latex

I bought this gun for spraying water based primer and paint because of its large 2mm tip but the larger tip doesn't help much. Works similarly to the purple KV pistol, although it has a 1.4mm tip. Either way, you need 60 to 80 psi at the compressor outlet to spray latex paint. Make sure you have a 20 gallon compressor or it will run all the time which is not what it was designed for. As others have said, cleaning the tip is nearly impossible. I ended up getting it using a 10mm socket wrench with the trigger pulled. It is worth noting that once opened, the pistol was already free of splashing water from the cup and running water through the cup valve, with and without the needle removed. So if trying to open the tip causes the nut to round, STOP, that's not necessary with latex anyway. I'm certainly a beginner and will continue to play with this, but so far the Neiko pistol performs similarly to the purple pistol, although the build quality is better for the Neiko. The Neiko pistol is heavy and beautifully finished. I'll update when I figure out how to make it work better. To update. You can get a great finish by spraying on water-based paints, but you'll need to dilute the paint with water. Probably depends on brand and type (matte, matte, translucent) of paint and temperature, but start with 10% water and work up to 20% as needed. I use 1 ounce of water with 8 ounces of paint and it usually works well. Be careful not to strain the paint. The target viscosity is fairly narrow - thin enough that the paint can run if the item is left upright for more than a minute or two. After painting is complete, immediately place the item on a flat surface and do not spray too much paint at once. Three layers may be required. The good news is that if you choose the right viscosity and apply quickly, you can get a glass-like finish. Adequate atomization may require at least 60psi, but I've learned that the pressure drop in lines and quick disconnects is very significant, 20psi in my case, so more like 40psi on a gun. (Depends on length of hose and number of quick disconnects.) I'm not very happy with the ability to focus the beam. It's a fan pattern even at the smallest size, although this prevents over-applying anywhere. I was hoping that with a 2mm tip this gun would work well with not too thin latex, but a larger tip wouldn't help. Would have preferred a plastic screw top lid rather than just being held on by compression, but the bowl is easily swapped out.
