Review on 🚗 K&N Cold Air Intake Kit for 2011-2014 FORD Mustang GT: High Performance, Horsepower Boost – 63-2578 by Brad Laverentz

Every car needs a CAI (Cold Air Intake)!

I just added this pup to my new 2013 Mustang GT and I definitely think it's a good addition. The installation took about 3 hours but could have been completed in half that time if I had taken my time. I haven't noticed any improvement on my MPG, but there is a significant difference in throttle response. I accelerate and move - without delay, that's great. I also noticed an improvement in power and torque at high rpm (4000+). The first mod I made was a rear axle exhaust to give it the growl my muscle car should have (the stick is too quiet). After the exhaust was installed, I noticed a strange noise coming from the front of the car, which turned out to be the result of the air filter. It sounds like the air is having trouble getting to the engine. I installed K&N and now it sounds like it should. There is no unnatural noise from the front and the exhaust sounds much better! NOTE: DO NOT overtighten the two bleed adapters that you must screw in. Apparently I did and one of them broke. K&N was great and sent me a new handset and both air adapters the next day for free! They even made vent holes in the pipe for me. A NOTICE. Because the hoses that connect to the vents exit the pipe at a 90 degree angle, you CANNOT install a factory cowl on a 2013 Mustang GT. I ended up buying a new engine cover (which cost me £130) and used a hacksaw to cut a section to fit the cover. Other CAI manufacturers (Airaid, BBK, JTL, Steeda, etc.) follow a factory design that I didn't know about until I bought K&N. Had I known that, I might have considered buying a different brand.
