Wrong instruction manual and outdated defective transmitter was sent.

We have ordered the DCPT-4000 Wireless Transmitter. When we opened the box it was a DCPT-4000 but the manual was for a DCPT-2500. There is little to no similarity in setup between the two devices. We had to download the instructions and owner's manual for the 4000 from the Dakota Alert website. The installation went fine, but the sensitivity switch is (as you say) very sensitive. If you go all the way clockwise, the receiver will keep giving false positives. We lowered it by about 25% and it worked for a while. Eventually, the connectors in the terminal box that connect the probe's red and black wires become very loose and after a few months the wires lost contact and the entire device stopped working. This company said "SORRY" that the warranty had expired. I finally contacted the Dakota Alert factory in South Dakota and after sending in the defective unit I was told it was a discontinued model that had been updated twice since receiving the unit. They sent me the latest model for free which works great. This company represents everything wrong with 3rd party and third party vendors on Revain. They buy obsolete junk from the manufacturer at a very low price and then sell it at premium prices, knowing that it is obsolete and has been improved in a later model. Stay away from this company!
