hammer inexpensive and delivered quickly. The hammer head is made of high quality steel with good impact resistance. It's fairly well balanced, but both the rounded and flat sides had odd beveled edges that needed redoing. I removed the beveled edges and smoothed out the almost flat side. The handle is made of high quality wood and is correctly (tightly) inserted into the head and fixed with a steel ring. The only flaw on the handle is the paint, which I also removed and replaced with pure linseed oil. I'm happy with the hammer and it's now one of my favorite blacksmithing tools, especially when working with fine steel.
