Review on ๐ŸŒ€ Hurricane Box Fan - 20 Inch, Classic Series, Floor Fan with 3 Energy Efficient Speed Settings, Compact Lightweight Design - ETL Listed, White by Kip Robinson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

(UPDATED August 9, 2018) High setting increases airflow to 11! Even the low setting is loud for a bedroom, looks good

when it comes to air movement I'm very happy with my new Hurricane box fan. It moves an impressive amount of air and I believe it equates to an impressive 2400cfm at altitude. Even at the lowest speed, this fan moves a lot more air than my old fan set to high speed! And I thought one of them was pretty good. When it comes to noise, I'm not great. This is an obvious compromise for moving large volumes of air. The Hurricane makes a little more noise on the lowest setting than my old fan on the highest setting. The fan in the bedroom is too loud for me, but it depends on how much noise you can tolerate. I think it's important to note that the noise appears to be coming entirely through the air from the fan blades. My old fan was almost silent for that kind of noise, but it vibrated pretty badly. This noise carried along the walls and I could hear it in other rooms. Not so with the balanced Hurricane. Seems noisy, but only in the room it's working in. The Hurricane was surprisingly smaller than the old metal frame it replaces. Both are referred to as 20-inch fans, but in the case of the Hurricane, this refers to the external dimensions of the box. On my old fan, this refers to the diameter of the blades. The Hurricane is also very thin, about half the thickness of my old fan. That's a big plus if you put the fan on the windowsill! The Hurricane's body is almost entirely made of plastic with metal reinforcement. As well as gently curved blades. It sounds cheap to describe but I was impressed with the build quality. It also doesn't seem to have any noticeable vibration when running. I think it will continue very well. I find good technique. In my application I use it in upstairs windows to blow air through an upstairs room in my old Cape style house in New England. Basically like an exhaust fan. I used some eye hooks and a bungee cord to hold it firmly in the window. With the fan on low, I can be in the middle of the room and feel the airflow clearly. When it comes to moving air, I'm very impressed. The noise level isn't that great. In summary, this box fan moves more air than any other I've seen in the field. At low it spins a lot more than my old fan at high! But it's noisy for a bedroom or living room. Also in the deep. The construction is very good and I think it will last for years if not decades. It's much more compact than other box fans I've looked at. I'm hesitating between 4 and 5 stars. Revain doesn't have half stars so I'm giving it 4 stars. It's an impressive case fan, but it's quite loud even on the lowest setting. UPDATE August 9, 2018: This fan continues to exceed my expectations. It moves a lot of air. I rarely want to use it above low settings, but when I do it brings moving air into my attic bedroom and cools it from the heat of the day (it's an attic room!). Yes, it is louder than my previous fan. It took a while, but I've gotten used to it now and it doesn't bother me anymore, at least at low speeds. Considering how much air this fan moves, I've reconsidered the noise level and am not upgrading my Hurricane fan to 5 stars. . I'm even happier than when I wrote the original review and upped the rating to 5 stars. This is an impressive fan.
