Reliable and Safe - Fish and Aquatic Animals

It does exactly what it's supposed to do and nothing else = perfect. I say this because I lowered the price and ordered a different brand for the other side of my 20-long for my leopard gecko, but this thing failed and got dangerously hot. This mat is glued to the bottom of my tank, then I use ceramic tiles inside the tank as the floor. The "hot spot" it creates does not exceed 104 degrees. I'm adding a thermostat to control fluctuations due to room temperature changes, but I'm not worried about it going crazy or anything. I used a rheostat to control the power delivered to the mat, but then I still had fluctuations as the room temperature changed. I just used tape around the edges to attach it to the tank and it's fine. I had to attach little felt tabs to the bottom corners of the tub to raise it enough for the cord to come out without getting pinched, but that doesn't matter. Don't skimp on your heating mat - it can be a big mistake.
