Replacing the insides of a 1904 New Haven Mantle

Two years ago the mainspring of my watch broke. I spent an ungodly amount of money to replace it but it hasn't started since. I'm the type who doesn't really like having non-working things in my house, so I thought about just pulling out the work and replacing it with a battery. This one had a pendulum mount and I went for it. The hands are too long so I cut them to the same size as the original clock with wire cutters, installed them, added bumpers on each side so the heavier pendulum wouldn't move them and they worked. ! The original pendulum is very heavy, so the mechanism hardly moves it, but it moves and time is perfect. I am very happy that my mother's last gift is working again!
