I'm recently widowed so I'm learning a lot of new skills. The lights in my bedroom stopped turning on and off and after finding out how much new lights would cost I decided to give it a try. Since the instructions don't say how to disassemble the lamp, I found a great video on You Tube (whttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mD1neO1rmdIould). I replaced the cords and sockets in my lamps in less than an hour. (Second in about ten minutes!) If I knew more about this process, I would know that I really only need sockets. My lines were in perfect condition, but I changed them while I was in them. The remaining parts of the kit were not needed. Once I have my new lampshades I will have better lamps than new ones. With this kit they can accommodate a higher wattage 3-way lamp: much better for my aging eyes. If you can follow the instructions, you can do it!
