Stainless steel works much better than plastic!
I don't waste plastic scrapers. They still work well and I keep them handy. But this SS unit is better. The difference is that it's sharper and cuts through almost any veg I need or want to core very quickly. A sharp-edged shredder under a protective green rubber cover is handy but not my style (I use professional shredders) and it's recommended to keep this cover close and on the tool when using the scraper.
