Unless you have a great cutting tool

I used matte film in my garage to replace ugly blinds that always stayed closed collecting dirt and dead bugs. This offers the same privacy as blinds but allows more light in. I have two suggestions: 1. Use straight edges. The instructions tell you to cut a piece 1/2 inch larger than the window and trim off the excess after application. If you don't have a great cutting tool, you're going to get rough edges when trimming; So, trim your piece to size according to the instructions, then when gluing to the window, place the straight edges inside the window and overlap the edges you trimmed and trim the excess from there.2. Make sure you have a very sharp cutting tool to trim after attaching the film. I've used a box cutter but started with a new blade, it worked but I'm wondering if there's anything better that could make trimming easier. I used a regular window scraper to apply the film, but I cleaned the scraper with warm water and dish soap before using to avoid staining or damaging the film. I followed the instructions and everything went fine. Immediately after application, there will be some moisture or something between the film and the glass, it will dry or disappear within a day, and you will have an even appearance.
