Review on Duracell Power DRINV1200 Black Inverter by Brian Manfre

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Seems to be a good product.

I haven't done a full load test yet because I don't have a battery pack that can deliver at least 100A at 12VDC. When turned on with no load, this device draws 0.83A or about 10W. The device, like most others, produces a fairly standard modified sine wave (see image). The device supplied 124 VAC with no load, even though the device is advertised as 115 VAC. I connected a 7W LED lamp and it drew 1.425A, which is about 17W (7W more than the no-load draw). I connected the same lamp to a 175W Duracell DRINV175 inverter which was drawing 3W with no load and the unit started drawing 0.8A or about 10W. If you have a smaller battery and want to keep as much capacity as possible, it's probably better to use the smaller DRINV175 for lighter workloads as it doesn't waste as much power. The device is definitely not as well built as my MeanWell TS-1000. The bottom panel is a bit thin and seems to flex a bit when pressure is applied to the edge.

Pros
  • Inverter
Cons
  • Faulty
