Review on DJI Pocket 2 Gimbal Camera by Kai Shift ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The product is of good quality, there is only one minor defect.

The stabilizer works very well, but it lacks an optical stabilizer in addition to the mechanics. If you shoot on the go, you can see tremors from walking, especially on close objects, on the fact that in the distance everything is not so critical. I highly recommend purchasing a separate module for panoramas. The module could be made more convenient and replace the wheel with a joystick, but even with the wheel it is much more convenient to shoot. A full charge of the battery lasts for approximately 2 hours of shooting in HD, less in 4K. When shooting in 4K, the camera heats up very noticeably, but this does not affect performance. There are many minor inconveniences, such as the inability to put the camera on a flat surface or the lack of a lanyard attached to the camera, but some of these inconveniences can be corrected with additional accessories, and some can be put up with. The camera is very demanding on memory cards, it will not work to shoot 4k on slow cards. There are problems with the anti-filker - flickering is sometimes very noticeable, especially in LED and energy-saving lamps. In the new firmware, almost all functions from the application were transferred to the camera, this also applies to settings and operating modes, which is good news. Despite the fact that I wrote a lot of bad things, I'm still pleased with the camera, because the main thing about it is good - it's picture quality and compact size.

Pros
  • Size and weight Operating time at 1080 Image quality - color, detail. Stabilizer and object tracking functions. You can select an object both on the camera and on the connected phone and the camera will follow this object and turn around it. It holds the horizon well and clings very well to the object chosen for tracking. Good autofocus and algorithms for determining the object for focusing, perfectly determines not only faces, but also objects significant for the plot. Most often a good automatic white balance Good panorama stitching An interesting and less convenient time-lapse, but with a number of software limitations So far, no one perceives it as a video camera with serious quality
Cons
  • A huge number of miscalculations in ergonomics and functionality: no strap, no tripod socket, no WiFi, no external microphone connection, video recording without sound is impossible, no program shooting of panoramas larger than 3x3, poor time-lapse settings, no program settings for stabilizer movement, and those what is available only from the phone in the functions for instagram. No zoom. Very narrow dynamic range To fix some of the problems, you need to buy additional accessories, but the problems are not solved entirely.
