At first we thought this device was broken but it worked on our desktops but not our laptop. After LOTS of internet research and troubleshooting that didn't help, we finally figured out that a Windows 10 laptop needs a few more programs to fix Microsoft's default sound drivers. Once installed, this thing worked like a charm. (I'll edit this review if I can confirm the names of these two programs). Okay, the software needed to increase the preamp level on the two laptops I tested (HP Specter and MSI PE60) is Equalizer APO, an executable. which edits your audio settings gives you more controls than Windows natively. Peace UI which is the UI for equalizer APO. With these two programs, my microphone worked very well, although I hadn't heard it at all before. (condenser microphone with phantom power)
