The shelf mounts easily with just two drywall anchors. The problem is that the drywall anchors aren't long enough and strong enough to hold the cat shelf. I took this video of my cats looking at it and as you can see one of my younger boys jumps on it and it's totally off the wall. The shelf itself is nice, but I would have preferred it curved more around the cat. If you buy this, go to the hardware store and get longer, stronger drywall anchors.
