Experimental Results

I experimented with this item. My application was polishing glass tiles for a shower/bathroom installation. It is worth noting the reviews of other users that brown streaks remain on this disc. With the last 3000 grit I was able to replicate this result, with 6000 grit or higher brown streaks were not a problem. moral of the story. . . If you end up with a grit that is too coarse, the pad itself will become a deposit in the pores of whatever you are working with. I also tried working with glass dry and wet. Definitely works better when wet. I also got tired of polishing the scratches on the glass. If the scratch is visible enough to warrant removal, this polishing pad will not work. We need to get back into the sand to fix the scratch and then move on. Anyone expecting a polish comparable to cerium oxide will be disappointed. On the other hand, cerium oxide is labor intensive compared to gluing a disc to Velcro. If you run the pad and it heats up your work piece, you can reduce the speed of the polisher. It's worth taking the time to find out what works best for you.
