I've been hearing a lot of static/humming noise from my PC speakers, especially when using 3D applications. I found that my onboard audio was picking up interference from my graphics card, so the static noise tripled when running something graphics-intensive. Adding it to my audio cable reduced the noise drastically. It didn't completely eliminate the hiss (I really have to crank the volume up to still hear a slight buzz), but there's no buzz from 0-70% of the master volume. I usually listen 50%. As a result, I got a good quality special sound card that completely eliminated any noise.
