I have to admit I was quite disappointed that it wasn't exactly what was on the list. Most of the photos in the listing show the mug sitting flush with the countertop. There were no profile photos or bottom of the device. It's unrelated as there is a pad on the bottom, presumably to tilt the bowl down for easier draining. For starters it was packaged fairly well and has a significant weight as the spray bowl is metal. The instructions were honest, but I didn't have to look at them. The installation is quite easy. I also appreciate that it comes with a diverter and braided hose. When I saw the spacer I was tempted to return the block but decided to install it instead and see what I thought. I was (and still am) concerned that from time to time I would have to clean under the cup any debris that got underneath. The seller states that the padding cannot be removed, but I think with a little elbow grease and a spatula I can probably remove it. I don't think it's mechanically connected. Probably just glued on with something. If you look at the second picture you will notice that the metal cup and stem are connected at right angles. This means that when installing, the washer will cause the stem to come out from under the post at a slight angle (3rd image). It doesn't bother me, but I have to be aware of it. I can try removing the spacer later and try to update my review if I do. I will also note that there is an o-ring on the underside of the gasket to create a seal where it meets the countertop. I was able to install it in about 15 minutes but it was only used one day so I can't say anything about longevity. Another thing I noticed is that the 'cross' that activates the spray doesn't come off to clean. All in all I'm happy with the device but time will tell. UPDATE 3/10/21 Rinse aid leaks less than five days after installation. It seems like it doesn't want to shut down completely most of the time. Leakage ranges from a barely noticeable drip to a tiny fountain on the countertop. I keep pushing to see if I can get the seal off, but I can't get it to stop leaking, even if it's just a little. I'll try to disassemble the hose, flush it and replace the washer if possible. Otherwise it will return. I will update later. UPDATE 10/6/21 I disassembled the device, which is easy enough. Simply loosen the screw with a flathead screwdriver through the lower threaded neck. The device is disassembled into three main parts: inlet screw (with washer), spray plate with spring and transverse "actuator" (pictures attached). If you have leaks from the spray holes, the washer on the inlet screw is the problem. In my case, the original disc had a flaw that prevented it from sealing completely. I could have replaced the washer, but instead I just cut off the error, which in my case looked like a label on the washer. This seems to have fixed my leak. Hope this helps someone else.
