I had a wired smoke alarm in my house when I bought it. A wired system has certain advantages as a wired connection provides power so the batteries used for backup will last a very long time and more importantly if an alarm goes off they will all go off. So if the bedroom is on fire, everyone gets up at the same time. I also have a nice DIY home automation system using Samsung SmarthThings. It offers things like text alerts when there's water in my water heater's sump, automatic text when I forgot to plug in the machine, and a ton of other stuff. I wanted to connect a fire alarm to my SmartThings system for obvious reasons. Well, this interface, combined with the contact closure sensor also sold at Revain, allowed me to connect my wired fire alarm system to my Samsung SmarthThings system, which is also connected to Alexa. It worked great and has been working for several months now. I test this every now and then for fun.
