Review on πŸ’ͺ Durable Power Tool: DEWALT DWE4012 Paddle Switch Grinder – A Must-Have for Precision Grinding by Lamar Marshall

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exactly what I wanted in a grinder

Need some more 4 inch grinders. I have an old reliable Milwaukee but the spindle lock is wearing out. I'm tired of constantly changing hard drives for different applications in the middle of a job. I chose the DWE4012 because I am very happy with the DeWalt products, the price was right and I wanted a damper switch instead of a latching switch like my Milwaukee. No, I am not blaming Milwaukee in any way or form, and I have Milwaukee tools and am very happy with them. Anyway I am very satisfied with this coffee grinder and especially with the flap switch. , MUCH more secure than any lock. Anyone who has spent time with grinders can tell some frightening stories, typically 7-9 inches, but 4 inches can be just as dangerous as they have a lot of torque. It's not a problem, just get used to how you move your hand. If it later starts to stick and clog, a sip of Kroil and a few breaths should clear it all up. Now I've heard whining that the tool doesn't come with a wrench, just an allen wrench. Well, I use an Allen key instead of a wrench every day of the week. This gives a lot more leverage to loosen. Inserted washers do not need to be tightened. Tighten with a gloved hand and you're done. If that makes you feel any better, use a wrench, and if anything, just smack it with your palm. The rotation of the grinder and the friction will tighten the locking ring. In my opinion, the allen wrench technique is an upgrade and puts wrenches where they belong, right on the back porch. 5 Stars.

Pros
  • Low profile gear case with storage tray improves durability and allows the tool to fit into tight spaces
Cons
