Review on Rugged Ridge 11025 12 Rectangular Release by Antonio Edan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I went ahead and made my choice and am very glad I did

I read every review and sat for a while and bought them as some of the reviews really made me hesitate on the trigger to click. I went ahead and made my choice and am very glad I did. They are a good product for the price. I read a review that says they are universal and the result is that one mirror tilts up and the other side tilts down. It is not true. They are made in such a way that you can rotate your hands to get the right angle. I also read reviews that said the mirrors were two low. Maybe on the TJ, but on my JK I put them on the top two window mount screws and they actually sit a little higher than my stock mirrors. I read three things that are very true. You really have to turn the locking screw to lock the mirrors in place. This issue is minimal as I was able to hand tighten them sufficiently. The other two issues, and why I only gave them 4 stars, are that they whistle like crazy and the passenger side mirror isn't convex. They start whistling at around 40 mph. However, I read somewhere that you can run tape around the edges and that will stop it. I'll try. The passenger mirror is practical to use. Both wobble a little on the road, but are still usable. All in all very nice to have mirrors when I don't have doors and for the price a very good buy. Update: To minimize the whistling (it got really annoying after a while) I tried wrapping tape around the edges. However, the result was less than I wanted. Instead, I used clear silicone sealant and filled the little void on the back of the rubber pad, and voila, the whistle is gone and it looks way better than duct tape.

Pros
  • Mirrors and parts
Cons
  • Negative impression
