I got this water tester because I needed to change the filter in my fridge and it takes a ton of water to flush the first time a new one comes in Furnished. I wanted to use a tester to see what TDS is and when it's safe to stop flushing with water. I expected the reading to go down with every gallon of water flushed out of the refrigerator's plumbing system. Unfortunately, this water tester has proven useless for this purpose. When I placed it in an inch of water as instructed, I got different readings even holding the tester still! It will be about 200 to 150. Or 40 to 220 to 160. I have no idea what the true value is. And instead of seeing an improvement in TDS with every new gallon of water flushed from the refrigerator's water system, the numbers remained random and constantly changing. I'll come back for a replacement. Let's see if the new one has the same problems.
