Review on Vission AM 160PSW Black Powered Subwoofer by Dany Hamilton

Vission Subwoofer mounted under the seat in a 1986 Porsche Convertible

I have a 1986 Porsche Convertible which I keep as original as possible. There isn't much room under the seat, so I chose this subwoofer for its low profile - it was the lowest I could find - even lower than the Kenwood. However, the Vision has a larger footprint than the Kenwood, so there wasn't much free space. Also, and it's not always clear when you first read Revain, there are two other amps in addition to the subwoofer amp - a 100W subwoofer amp and another 60W section dedicated to two amps . I didn't use auxiliary amps in this particular setup, but this is a potentially useful option. After installing the seat and putting it back in place, I found that the remote control didn't work. I didn't want to take everything out and send it back to Revain so I emailed Vission customer support and suggested they just buy a new one - that was two weeks ago and I never got a reply. It's not that much, but not very good of them. When installed, the gain was centered, which is too much for this installation. If I don't get an answer from Vission regarding the remote, I just pull myself into the seat and turn the gain down a notch or two. In terms of actual subwoofer performance, I mostly listen to jazz, but also old soul and the occasional rock. I like tight, crisp bass without boom, which is very good for my taste. The frequency response is more than sufficient for me and the volume is more than sufficient for my needs. Depending on music tastes and listener preferences, this particular option may not meet the needs of others. The convertible is a tricky place for any speaker, but it suits my listening preferences well. You'll feel some vibrations when you're in the passenger seat, but so far nobody's found it bothersome and the experience has drawn its fair share of jokes from passengers.
