Review on Chamberlain G8808CB-P Garage Door Opener 8 Ft Rail Extension Kit - Compatible with Whisper Drive Plus Models and Includes Replacement Belt by Daniel Ortiz

Chamberlain says you should buy this kit if your garage door is over 7ft but not over 8ft. I was exactly 8 feet so I put the install back halfway and ordered a kit from Revain. The kit includes a slightly longer section of rail (which is about 9 feet long) and a new, longer strap to accommodate the now longer rail. I installed this $50 "upgrade" and after that I pretty much realized I could complete the install without it. proof? I had to move the motor mounts in my ceiling an additional 10 inches further from the door than the previous opener (which had been running for 15 years). Apparently the older Chamberlain opener had enough travel in the standard motor rail to open an 8" door. Not only is this a waste of time and money, I now have to patch up the paint on my garage ceiling and try to touch it up (probably needs a complete repaint. Thanks Chamberlain!
