I was looking to replace a recently deceased ViewSonic PJD-6240 DLP projector but didn't want to spend more than $700 to replace it (because I bought the last projector from a $40 yard sale stole). .) I was delighted to learn that projectors ranged from $75 to $300 and decided to do extensive research to find a suitable replacement. This Poner Sound M8 model seemed to get a lot of good reviews and offered the legacy connections my setup and HDMI required. This allows me to connect the ROKU directly so I can take full advantage of this projector's higher resolution. The only thing I didn't realize was the possibility of ceiling mounting it and the actual size of the device. As it turns out, this projector is slightly larger than the ViewSonic and has four mounting screw slots versus the three the ViewSonic requires. Luckily the profile size was the same because the screws that came with the Poner Sound were too short to use with my homemade wood ceiling mount. Valuable info that I couldn't find anywhere was the dimensions of the mounting points, so I'm posting them here: 8-11/16"w X 6-3/16"d - see image and note to remove the rubber pads to expose the attachment points. I'm fairly happy with the projected image and I'm happy with the XY zoom adjustment which allows me to zoom out on a huge image projected four meters to the rear. And adjusting the 4-point keystone correction was an easy task. The settings menu is a bit "clumsy" but it does the job. It annoys me a bit that even though I have to resize the image to fit my screen, the menu display is still projected onto a huge (unadjusted) screen size. Video via RCA "video-in" with audio via a remote stereo auxiliary amplifier, so I chose to connect the ROKU directly to HDMI and use the projector's built-in speakers, and I found them sufficient for everyday use. Entertainment. I can still stream video from my computer through the old video input and do NOT see any timing delays from the additional amp. I'll have to reconsider my entertainment center given the features available on the new projector, but overall I think I've made a really good choice with this projector. I was happy to find out that the default settings were in between and I still had plenty of brightness and contrast settings to play with. I chose to run the fans at high speed (hoping to extend the life of the device and found that fan noise is minimal and much quieter than the old ViewSonic even when running at low speeds). a beautiful, well-made projector that seems to be worth the money: in a darkened room the picture is as clear as in any cinema and still delivers a visible image even in daylight when projected onto the built-in matt white, extendable screen my viewing room. Delivered early - very satisfied ;)
